Poveromo, 46, is a renowned angling authority who serves as a Senior
Editor for Salt Water Sportsman Magazine, the nation's oldest and
largest publication on the sport of marine fishing. Considered the
fishing authority for over 60 years, Salt Water Sportsman has a
paid monthly circulation of over 150,000 readers. George has been
on the publication's masthead since 1983.
George's in-depth knowledge of marine angling is the result of a
lifelong passion for fishing. In 1983 he was recognized by Motor
Boating and Sailing as one of the top eight anglers in the country
- at age 23! He has fished along the entire U.S. coast, as well
as in Alaska, Hawaii, Bermuda, Grand Canary Island, the Caribbean
and a number of Central and South American destinations. His numerous
feature articles in Salt Water Sportsman reflect his extensive background
and expertise in salt water fishing, and his "Tactics &
Tackle" column ranks among readers as the number-one department
in the magazine. All of this has made George a household name among
Salt Water Sportsman readers and members of the fishing and marine
industries.
George is also well-known as the producer and host of the immensely
popular Salt Water Sportsman National Seminar Series, the nation's
largest and most successful educational course on recreational marine
fishing techniques. Now into its 18th consecutive year, the National
Seminar Series is considered an institution in the salt water sport
fishing community. The tour visits eight major cities annually,
and has educated over 90,000 anglers since its inception in 1988.
In addition to his work with Salt Water Sportsman and the Seminar
Series, George produces a line of premier how-to sport fishing videos
under the High Hook banner. His Successful Offshore Bait-Rigging,
Successful Dolphin Tactics, Successful Bottom-Fishing Tactics and
Successful Sailfish Tactics are the top-selling salt water fishing
tapes on the market today!
When he's not on the Seminar tour, traveling in pursuit of column
and feature-story material, or shooting for his TV series, George
can often be found off South Florida or in the Bahamas, fishing
aboard his 28-foot center console, MARC VI. A graduate of the University
of Miami, he makes his home in Parkland, Florida, with his wife
Edie and daughters Lindsay and Megan.
